Geologist examine the structure of our planet through the study of rocks and soil.
Rocks make up Earth’s crust. Over time, particles of minerals are compressed together. The crust contains many layers of rock, with numerous shapes, colours, sizes and textures. There are three groups of rock, based on how they are formed — sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic.
